Technician FAQs

General

Learn the basics about the platform, how it works, and what technicians can expect when joining the Cloudwork|PRO network.

1. What is Cloudwork|PRO?

Cloudwork|PRO is a nationwide marketplace that connects businesses with vetted IT field service technicians for installation, maintenance, and service work.

2. What kind of technicians use Cloudwork|PRO?

Cloudwork|PRO works with experienced IT field service professionals who specialize in commercial technology installations and support. Most technicians on the platform have backgrounds in networking, low voltage cabling, security systems, point of sale systems, digital signage, ATMs, and other business technology infrastructure.

The network is limited to qualified technicians with proven experience, helping ensure clients receive professional, reliable service on every project.

3. Where are Cloudwork|PRO jobs located?

Work orders are posted across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Projects range from single service calls to larger multi location deployments, giving technicians opportunities to work locally or travel for larger projects depending on their preferences.

4. Is Cloudwork|PRO a full time job or contract work?

Cloudwork|PRO technicians operate as independent contractors rather than full time employees. This allows you to choose the projects you want to accept and manage your own schedule based on your availability and expertise.

Getting Started & Approval

Everything you need to know about creating your account, completing your profile, and getting approved to start receiving opportunities.

1. How do I create an account?

You can create a technician account by clicking Get Started on CloudworkPRO.com or by downloading the Cloudwork|PRO mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

During signup you will:

  • Enter your contact information
  • Upload a profile photo
  • Select the types of work and skills you specialize in
  • Add certifications, work history, and education (optional)
  • Upload proof of commercial general liability insurance and workers compensation (if applicable)
  • Upload 3 to 5 photos of your best work

Once your profile is complete, you will schedule an interview with our recruiting team. After the interview, a background check is conducted before final approval.

2. How long does the approval process take?

Most technicians can complete their profile in about 10 minutes. In some cases, interviews are available the same day.

Some technicians complete the entire process in one day, but most are approved within two days.

3. Can I apply if I already work full time?

Yes. Many technicians use Cloudwork|PRO to supplement their existing IT field service work.

However, the platform is designed for experienced professionals in the IT field service industry. It is not intended for individuals working in unrelated fields who are looking for occasional side work.

4. Is there a background check?

Yes. All technicians must pass a background check before being approved to join the network. Additional details can be found in our background check policy.

5. Am I required to have insurance?

Yes. All technicians on the Cloudwork|PRO platform are required to carry Commercial General Liability Insurance with at least $1,000,000 in coverage per occurrence.

Please note that Professional Liability Insurance does not meet this requirement. The policy must be Commercial General Liability Insurance.

Work Orders & Matching

Learn how job notifications work, what impacts your visibility, and how to accept and manage work orders on the platform.

1. How are technicians matched to jobs? (needs work)

When a client posts a work order, technicians with matching skills and experience are notified.

Technicians can review the job details and indicate interest. At the same time, the system provides the client with a list of qualified technicians along with a compatibility score based on several factors including skills, experience, and location.

The client ultimately selects the technician they would like to assign the job to.

2. Can I choose which jobs to accept?

Yes. You are always free to review available work orders and decide whether you would like to apply.

You can accept the opportunities that fit your schedule and decline those that do not.

3. What types of jobs are available?

Clients post work orders for a wide range of low voltage and IT field service projects. Explore the most common types of work here>.

4. Can I see job details before accepting?

Yes. Before applying you can review the full work order details, including:

• Client name
• Job location
• Scope of work
• Payment amount
• Required completion date

If the job is outside your travel range or below your standard rate, you may submit a counter offer. You can also message the client directly with questions before deciding whether to apply.

On Site Process & Expectations

Understand what’s expected before, during, and after a job, including communication, documentation, and quality standards.

1. What are the expectations when arriving on site?

Cloudwork|PRO expects technicians to operate with a high level of professionalism. This includes:

• Reviewing the work order details before applying
• Arriving on site on time
• Bringing the proper tools to complete the job correctly
• Following the provided instructions
• Maintaining clear communication with the client and our team

Professional conduct and strong communication are essential for success on the platform.

2. What if I encounter an issue on site?

If an issue arises during a job, you should first communicate directly with the client.

If additional support is needed, our US based team is available to assist technicians and help resolve issues.

3. Can I request additional time or scope adjustments?

Yes, but any changes to the job scope or additional time must be approved by the client first.

You can document discussions and agreements through the work order messaging feature, which provides a clear record of communication.

4. How do ratings and performance reviews work?

When a client closes a work order, they are asked to provide feedback on their experience.

Technicians may be rated on factors such as:
• Timeliness
• Quality of work
• Following instructions
• Communication

Strong performance and positive feedback help build your reputation on the platform.
